About Shiny Colored Metallic Plating: Sometimes called 'eletrocoating' or 'chrome color plating', this process is officially called 'eletrophoresis plating'. We like to call it "Shiny Colored Metallic Plating"... more descriptive.
How is it done?: There are two steps to this process. First, 925 silver plating or nickel plating is used as the base plating. 925 silver plating is brighter, lighter and more costly than nickel plating. As a reminder; 925 silver plating is a little lighter in color. The second and final step is the metallic colored layer is applied. The only way to get the shiny colors shown below is to use either silver or nickel as the base plating. This works best on items that have something that can be used to attach a hanging wire such as a pin, a medal, or a wine charm. Coins may not do as well with metallic plating depending upon the design of choice. Just ask us and we will help you decide what is best for your item of choice.
Shiny color variations: The final color will vary from batch to batch. Chemical mixtures and exposure time for colored plating products cause batch-to-batch variations in color. Colors will be "close" to the colors shown below, however this is a subjective determination, not a guarantee. This can result in hue changes from batch to batch (minor or moderate) and it should be considered when ordering.
